Women & Children First

In the last 23 years Women Helping Women’s Fund TriCities has been raising money for grants and scholarships in order to empower women and children in our community.

As of 2022, WHWFTC has distributed over $3 million in funds to 163 different Tri-City nonprofit programs.

Alysia Johnson, executive coordinator of WHWFTC, explains that none of this would have happened without the people who have come together over the years in support of WHWFTC.

In 2022 alone, they raised $190,000, which made them able to fund programs such as Grace Kitchen, Columbia Industries, Mirror Ministries, Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity, Academy of Children’s Theatre’s, and many more.

In October, they will be holding the annual event that makes it all possible: their fundraising luncheon at the HAPO Center.

Rebeca Hanson, Finance Director at McCurley Subaru, has recruited community members to attend the event over the past few years, volunteering as a table captain.

As Rebecca was looking for a way to give back, Women Helping Women’s mission deeply resonated with her on a personal level.

“Coming from nothing and being able to make this transition in my life where now I get to hire women in the dealership group and help come alongside them to help elevate their lives beyond what they believed was possible… Opportunities to connect with other women and help them be successful is something I want to be a part of.”

Women Helping Women is helping individuals to assist the community where it’s needed most.
