a note from Our CVO…

Hello! My name is Mary Taylor.  I’m an ex-cop turned stay-at-home boy-mom. I never thought, in a million years, that I’d become an independent publisher. Security for the first female president? Perhaps. The owner/creator of an independent lifestyle magazine? Never.

However, as the saying goes, “We become what we needed,” this was the exact saying that sparked the creation of this magazine.

After leaving a successful career in law enforcement to be a full time stay at home mom, I found myself isolated. Those friends and networks that I once had no longer existed and as much as I cherished raising my two little men, I felt an absence of camaraderie that left a huge void in my heart.

When I moved to the Tri-Cities in 2006, this little corner of Eastern Washington was just starting to gain in popularity. Sunshine, affordable cost of living, and mountains of economic opportunity attracted new faces and families from all over the country. I loved watching my little world grow. Yet, at the same time, I struggled to feel seen, heard, or connected to any of it.

When I needed help, there was no platform for me to safely put myself out there and say, “Hey! I’m lonely…let’s talk and see if we have anything in common, and maybe become friends!”

There was no space for me to warm up to new people, businesses, or adventures at my own speed.

There were no conversation starters that helped to make introductions easier.

So…. I did what any insane person would do. I started a local lifestyle magazine from scratch without any knowledge or experience in the publishing industry.

Currently, Taylored Living Magazine (TLM) is the only full service lifestyle publication for our entire community and we just had our 6 year anniversary!

Although the underlying goal is to entertain readers/followers through a variety of creative life, style, and community related content, my ultimate (and a little bit selfish) goal is to provide a platform for people to build relationships and connections with other members of our community.

With a combined population of over 300,000 people in the Tri-Cities…. I truly believe that TLM is the key to connecting us all. No one should ever feel unseen, unheard or disconnected in our community… My hope is that TLM helps solve this problem one issue at a time!

Sincerely,

Mary Taylor
